Kyleigh Halfenger, Reference Assistant
Even though I'm a new staff member, I've been going to the Whitefish Bay Library since I was a little kid! I was born and raised in Whitefish Bay (and a frequent patron to the library). My passion for reading carried through to my adulthood as I earned my BA in English and my Master's in English (Creative Writing). By assisting young readers and creating a welcoming space, I hope I can give back to this wonderful community! My reading taste is all over the map (as you'll see with my favorites), so I'm willing to give anything a try.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
A book I can still read after so many years and still laugh! Rick Riordan's clever blend of mythology and modern day made me fall in love with the series. It is definitely one of the books I have re-read the most.

Bluestar's Prophecy
My favorite book from the ever-growing catalogue of Warrior Cats books! This was another one of the first series I got attached to and the unraveling history of this tragic character from the main series had me hooked from the first page.

Catching Fire
Although I love the entire series, this one remains my favorite of the trilogy. The rise of the revolution, the personal dilemmas of the characters, and numerous twists made this book one I couldn't put down.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
The setting of Hollywood in the 1950s and the alluring history of Evelyn Hugo make this book so enjoyable! I went through a bit of a reading slump in my early 20s, but this book pulled me out of it quickly!

The Spirit Bears Its Teeth
Andrew Joseph White's second novel offers a fascinating premise of a transgender, autistic teen who has the ability to see spirits and yearns to be a surgeon in 1883 London. His identity is denied and he is sent to a school to "correct" his behavior where he meets others struggling like he is. The resilience and diversity of the main character, along with the supernatural aspects, make this one of my favorite books as of late.
