Memoirs have a way of grabbing you (and staying with you afterwards) because they are real stories told by real people. These recently published autobiographies are funny, touching, and fascinating- and all of them are totally engrossing.

No sense fighting the calendar, winter is on the way if we like it or not. And we can’t change the fact we live in Wisconsin. Watching movies or TV is one of my favorite activities and probably for many of you too, so I thought of recommending a few documentary titles I’ve recently enjoyed.

Several of my favorite works of fiction employ literary devices that call attention to the fictional nature of the work. Some might also describe them as postmodern fiction. As you can see from this list, I’ve included works by authors from many different eras and nationalities.

As children’s librarians, we talk a lot about the importance of reading, talking, and singing in early childhood literacy, hence the ubiquitous storytime. We love storytime! However, there is a fourth element that can bring all of these activities together…PLAY!
